The Morning Jab

Weekday mornings we talk sports, sports and nothing but sports. Shoe and (and currently Matty) keep it fresh and fun and focused on New England. Check the audio vault for recent interviews and be sure to check in with an email or tweet.

Shoe's Bio:

Born in Boston raised in Arlington, Ma. Went to Emerson College where they took all my money. Love all 4 Boston teams especially them Red Sox. Happily married with 2 dogs. Been doing the Morning Jab over 8 years now. I miss my mentor and friend Frankie Fixaris everyday. But the show has continued success because of the clowns that call and more importantly the diehard sports fans of Maine.

Matty's Bio:

The first sports memory Matt Boutwell has is of William “Refrigerator” Perry crashing into the end zone against a beat-up and beaten down Patriots team in Super Bowl XX. It helped  create an attitude of sarcasm and negativity that he carries with him to this day. A native of Dixfield and a graduate of Livermore Falls High School, he grew up without cable, yet still managed to know more sports than others because of the magic of AM radio. Listening to sports talk stations in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Boston, he spent many nights falling asleep to the vocal stylings of the late Harry Kalas calling Phillies games and to Chuck Kaiton calling the Hartford Whaler games, and he carried this love of sports and radio with him for years. After spending 3 years in the military in the late 90's, he moved back to Maine and became a daily caller to “The Morning Jab” where he would frequently debate Shoe, Fix and later Joe on the topics of the day. He created a blog in 2005 that in 2008 became  “The CMSB (Central Maine Sports Blog)”, and along with Jeff Schools, refocused the blog on local and New England sports with live game coverage, photos, audio interviews, podcasts and more. He has booked and interviewed many different guests from throughout the sports world, from Cy Young Award Winners and Hall of Fame Players and Broadcasters. Blogging (and luck) got him a job as the Sports Editor for Independent Publishing in Windham . The CMSB has been featured on the websites of USA Today, Deadspin, Sports Illustrated, FoxSports.com, and the podcast he and Jeff used as a career springboard was simulcast on community radio here in Maine. He now brings his unique point-of-view of view on sports to the BIg Jab 6 days a week, co-hosting the Morning Jab with Shoe Monday through Friday and talking sports with his partner in crime Jeff Schools on the Weekend Warm-Up every Saturday morning from 8a-11a. He lives in Mechanic Falls with his patient wife, three children, and 2 dogs.
